Hey I’m Gurkirat, a UVIC student who is currently enrolled in the PDP program aspiring to be a future secondary educator. I grew up in the Fraser Valley with a small family and an amazing dog named Rover. I graduated high school in 2012 where I developed a strong interest in science and further pursued that in post secondary. In 2018, I graduated from the University of the Fraser with a Biology major and wasn’t too certain of what I wanted to do afterwards.

A bit prior to graduation, I started coordinating a basketball camp where I coached students from all grades. At the sessions, I would facilitate basketball drills, interact with the parents and ultimately become a mentor who is fully available to help the youth. This opportunity allowed me to create a healthy relationship with the students and helped me develop a passion for teaching.

As far as it goes for sports, I am a HUGE basketball enthusiast and try playing the sport as frequently as I can. I am not really a dedicated fan of one team but rather an enormous fan of a player named Russell Westbrook who I know everything about (fan girl moment). My hobbies include trying out new restaurants that have amazing reviews and going on long hikes that have breathtaking views at the top.
